Nathan Cole talks SEC camps, new offer

Nathan Cole, wide receiver from Memphis-Mitchell, Tenn., will rank as one of the South's top receiver prospects in 2012. He has received three SEC scholarship offers including one last week after camp. He talked about the latest news and camp performances.

"I have received offers so far from Ole Miss, Alabama and Tennessee," said Nathan Cole. "I went down to Alabama's camp last week. That is when they offered me.

"Coach Saban told me about the offer. I met with him in his office. He said he isn't big into offering juniors right now. He likes to wait until after the season to see how I do. He said he sees something good in me and would like to have me in his program.

"I was shocked. It came straight from coach Saban's mouth, and they are the national champs. I told Keiwone [Malone, Alabama freshman] about the offer. He was telling me how they work-out and stuff like that. He is loving it down there.

"I spent two days at their camp. It was a good experience. I learned some new things. They showed me new techniques I could use. I loved working out with their coaches. I like the way they talk to the players and explain what they are doing.

"The offer is just another step for me. There is so much I like about Alabama. I like their offense and defense. I play on both sides of the ball. I also like their coaching staff."

Cole has been impressed with another SEC program just as much since the Rebels were the first to offer in the spring.

"I went to Ole Miss camp for one day," he said. "They showed me a lot of love. We went over a lot of drills and stuff like that. We did some one-on-ones. I felt like I did wonderful out there.

"The coaches were impressed. They said they liked me. Coach Nutt was telling me he liked what I was doing. I think they have a really cool coaching staff. They know how to talk to you and everything.

"I have been liking Ole Miss for a while. They offered me back in the spring. I like them for basically the same reasons as Alabama. I like their coaches, and the fact they are in the SEC. I like how they play on offense and defense."

Cole does not list any favorites at this point and will return to Tuscaloosa in July to compete in the Badger Sports National 7-on-7 championship.
