Darien Harris is starting to pick up plenty of offers, but the Hyattsville, Md., product still…
Licata Squares Situation
Joe Licata, a 6-foot-2.5, 205-pound quarterback from Williamsville South High School is sitting on two scholarships and talked about those two schools as well what happened to his Syracuse offer. "Right now I have scholarships from Akron and Buffalo," Licata stated. "I was holding a scholarship from Syracuse since September, but Coach Doug Marrone called me and asked me if I had a decision ready for him and when I said no he just told me they were going to move in a different direction which was fine with me. If it wasn't meant to be it wasn't meant to be is the way I look at it. I wanted to go out and see other schools and go through the recruiting process, but they didn't want me to, so I have no hard feelings and just moved on." "I've been talking to Head Coach Rob Ianello and had met him and Coach Ron Powlus out at Notre Dame when I camped there when they were still with the Irish the summer before," Licata explained. "I went down for camp at Akron and really like it there. It's a really nice place and I while I've run the spread my whole life I like the pro-style offense they're going to run down there." "I've had an offer from Buffalo since Coach Turner Gill was there in September and when Coach Quinn came in he put the offer right back on the table for me," Licata said. "Coach Quinn is a great guy and a fiery football guy, so I like dealing with him a lot. I run that spread offense at my high school and it really fits my style pretty well, so I'm pretty confident in that one." "I went to North Carolina for camp a few weeks ago and they said they're going to get back to me to let me know how I stand. They didn't want to do any bad business with those guys, so I'm just being patient right now and waiting to hear where I am with them which is fine." As a junior, Licata passed for 2462 yards and 36 touchdowns and was named first-team All-State.
