Price Working for Offers
Joe Price profile "I have been to Oklahoma, Mississippi State, Ole Miss and Southern Illinois," said Price. "I would like to go to Florida State. I am not sure what else I might go to later on." If Joe had his wish, he would line up at tailback and be a regular contributor in a college running game. The Madison Central standout reports he is not married to the idea and just wants to get on the field. "I really want to go to college and play running back, but some of the schools I went to want me to play DB," said Price. "State wants me to play corner and I did good at Ole Miss at DB. I just want to go somewhere I can go help the team and get my academics." Joe reports a high level of interest in both of Mississippi's SEC programs. He talks about his experiences on both campuses. "When I went to Ole Miss they toured me around the campus," said Price. Coach (Derrick) Nix showed me around. We watched film with him. He told me that he liked my speed and that I didn't have to put on any pounds. He said he liked me just as I am. I left Ole Miss feeling good about that. "I went to Mississippi State. They toured me around. They showed us the game room and all of that. Coach Smith and Coach Hud both spent some time with me. I worked some with the receivers and then I went over to the DBs. Coach Smith told me I could go to the next level and I liked hearing that. He said that if I came to State, that I could really be something." An offer from either in state program would be difficult to turn down. Having the chance to play near friends and family is important to Joe. "I really want to stay close to home, but If I have a good offer to play from another school a little farther way I would have to take it," explained Price. "I want to go somewhere that I have a chance to get on the field. I don't have to feel like I have to play immediately, but I want to know the chance is there if I work for it." Hard work and Joe are pretty familiar with each other. He holds on to the belief that if he keeps working, some good things are going to happen. "Every coach I sit down and talk to all asks me why I don't have any offers," said Price. "I just tell them I don't know. I don't know why nobody has offered me yet. "Some of the schools tell me that they want to see more tape of me and I understand that because I haven't sent out any film. I am working on a highlight tape and I going to be sending that out soon."
