"This summer I have been to camps at Ole Miss and USM," added Darius Holder. "It went great at both places."
Southern Miss has increased their interests since the camp.
"It went really good at their camp. They have been sending me a whole bunch of letters telling me they want me to be an Eagle."
Did they formally offer?
"Yes, they offered me at their camp. They said they liked the way I run hard every play. I go hard no matter what the score is or what down it is."
Darius attended the OM Elite Camp in June and was also extended a scholarship offer.
"They actually offered me right after I spoke to the media after the camp was let out. They called me back into the office, and Coaches Nutt and Vaughn told me I had a scholarship offer. Coach Nutt said he liked my work ethic, and Coach Vaughn told me that I already could do some of the things that his older players didn't have like keeping my butt low and turning my hips and staying with my man. They also liked the way I never give up on a play. He said he wants me to be his next Cheetah"
What stands out about Southern Miss the most for the 6' 0", 175-pound Lumberton (MS) star?
"I like it because they have things to do. They have some facilities where you can go and have fun with your friends and have a bbque and just hang out and play video games."
And Ole Miss?
"Man, I like everything about it up there. It's pretty tight. I really like their dorm rooms and outside facilities. You can have a pretty good bbque up there too and just hang out with your friends."
Sounds like Holder is into cooking?
"Yea, you can say that (laugh). I actually love to cook out. Eating and playing football are my two favorite things to do (laugh). I am always cooking things around the house."
Anybody else in the recruiting picture?
"I am hearing from MSU, but I did not get to go to their camp because I had a basketball game. They really want me to come up there in July for their camp. They have been blowing my line up lately."
What will Darius base his decision on?
"I just want to go where I am wanted the most. That's it, really. Who is going to do the most for me?"
While some recruits are wanting to get their decision over with before the start of their senior season, others will wait it out.
"I am in no hurry. Not at all. I will probably start thinking about that stuff after my last game of the season. I am going to sit back and see who all offers first."
