Jimmy Ruff profile
"It went great," said Ruff of the experience. "I just got out there and I tried to do my best. I just tried to help the team win. I feel like I played great offense and defense."
Jimmy missed the team's first game and showed up just in time to supply some fresh legs for a team who had all but one player going both ways.
"I got out there and got in the groove in the second game," said Ruff. "I feel like I had a real good day on the second day. I was good in coverage and got back in my drops better."
Team Mississippi finished in the Elite Eight. While Jimmy was happy to be a part of that success, he enjoyed spending time with his teammates.
"I think all of those guys are great," chuckled Ruff. "Some of them are top prospects in Mississippi. They really showed their talent off.
"Donte (Moncrief), Jahmel McIntosh and Jermaine Whithead were all real good. When they got out there they played their butts off. They went hard every play."
"It was cool hanging out. They all talked a lot. We had a good time. We talked about off the field stuff and some of the top prospects."
For a prospect like Ruff looking to elevate his profile, the event provided a good measuring stick for his own evaluation.
"It showed me I can get better and I know I need to be better on offense and defense," said Ruff. "I didn't expect to be so intense, but I got into it. It was great. I had a great time playing and getting to know everybody."
Jimmy is now turning his attention towards the 2010 season. He is hopeful that he can play his way into some college options.
"I am just trying to keep up the good work and work hard to see what comes my way," said Ruff. "I am just ready to get started. We lost 23 seniors, so people aren't expecting a lot from us. We have something to prove and I am ready to go prove it."
