Monroeville (Pa.) Gateway four-star cornerback Dondi Kirby really had no reason to perform at college summer camps with double-digit offers from basically every school that he wanted, but he did.
On June 25, Kirby attended camp at the University of Michigan and fell awkwardly as he got tangled up with another player as he fell to the ground and heard the pop. Kirby knew as did Gateway head coach Terry Smith.
"The way he fell and seeing the way he reacted, I knew it wasn't good," Smith told the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.
Kirby recently had his diagnosis which was a torn ACL which will require surgery in the next few weeks. All surgical recovery is different, but usually a player is looking at a year.
Hopefully, Kirby being young and in great shape can recover faster. Smith has said that most of the schools that have offered Kirby are honoring the scholarship.
