Chris Jones shuffles list

Chris Jones, Scout.com three-star cornerback from Adamsville-Minor, Ala., is one of the top uncommitted prospects in the South. He has more than 20 scholarship offers and will begin taking official visits in the near future. One school is no longer a favorite.

"We are doing 7-on-7 right now," said Chris Jones. "I think July 21-23 we are going to Birmingham Southern. We went to Homewood July 1. We just came from Mountain Brook this past Thursday. I didn't really like those because you do situation type stuff. It's not like a 7-on-7 game.

"I did pretty good in the 7-on-7s. I played more offense than defense at Mountain Brook, but still did both. They had me split out at wide receiver. I am going to be playing on both sides this fall again."

Auburn was one of the first schools to extend a scholarship offer and have been the overall favorite for the past few months.

"I have started to shift away from Auburn," Jones said. "Right now I would say they are still in it, but they are almost completely out of it. It wasn't anything they did. I just started not to like them anymore."

Jones is not listing any favorites, but he is already thinking about official visits.

"This month I probably won't go anywhere," Jones said. "I will start taking my official vists when the season starts. I was trying to go down to Florida for FNL, but I don't think it's going to work out. I am going to take July and August off.

"I would iike to begin taking my official visits in September. Right now I want to give my official visits to Alabama, Notre Dame, Florida, and I am going to try to go to Tennessee. I haven't set up any dates yet. I want to do that soon. I don't have any favorites right now. I am wide open."
