Scout.com has just confirmed that DE Reggie Gilbert has become the first football player in Laveen (Az.) Fairfax High history to commit to a division-one school.Gilbert says, "I just committed to UofA (Arizona)."The 6-3 230 pounder picked the Wildcats over San Diego State, New Mexico, Idaho and multiple other programs.See the newest Wildcat in action here:Gilbert made 78 tackles and 13 sacks as a junior. He carries a 2.8 GPA and scored a 19 on the ACT so qualifying should not be a problem. An excited Gilbert tells us how the commitment went down, "I went down there for a second unofficial just now to look at some things I didn't get to see before and to get a few things cleared up. when I was there, everything just seemed like a perfect fit for me so I told Coach Kish that I wanted to be a Wildcat and Coach stoops came in the office and I told him I was a Wildcat."The coaches reaction, "They were so excited for me. Coach Kish wanted to dance on his desk. They said they like that I have the intangibles that they are looking for."So why UofA? "It is my dream school," he says. "They play in a really competitve conference, I have the opportunity to see the field as a freshman, the staff is great and the chemistry between all of the players is like they are a family. I really like the conditioning coach's philosophy at getting better but the bottom line is, I just loved everything about their program. I believe they are on their way to bigger and better things and I want to be a part of that.
