Dante Fowler talks AU/UA camps

Dante Fowler, defensive end from St. Petersburg-Catholic, Fla., is one of the nation's premier 2012 recruits. He has more than 20 scholarship offers including a couple of recent SEC schools. He took a trip to Auburn last weekend and traveled across the state to Tuscaloosa. The visit to Alabama didn't go as planned.

"I had a good time at Alabama, but I didn't do the camp because I got sick," said Dante Fowler. "I did enjoy being around the atmosphere up at Alabama. It was really nice.

"I don't really know what happened. I guess I ate something bad. I got sick and threw up like seven times. I was upset because I was really looking forward to Alabama's camp.

"I got a chance to tour the campus, weight room and locker room. I got to see the field. It was real nice. I like the campus. The people are real cool."

Ole Miss and Auburn are two of the latest scholarship offers. He is open with favorites, but named Auburn, Florida State, Ole Miss and Tennessee as grabbing his attention the most at this point.

Auburn: "Auburn was real good. The coaching staff loved me. The sports facility was nice. The girls who toured me around were nice. The head coach [Gene Chizik] was really nice. He told me he was from Florida. He is a cool coach and likes me a lot. They have great academics. If I go to Auburn I can be successful."

Florida State: "I like the coaching staff. They are real cool. They are energetic. I love the campus. I get along with the people. I like everything in general. I love Tallahassee. I like the facilities. The academics are great."

Ole Miss: "They are a real good school. I like the campus life. It's kind of quiet. I love the coaches. Coach Nutt is really energetic. I fell in love with the field. I could see myself playing there."

Tennessee: "I think coach Smith is one of the best defensive line coaches. Coach Dooley is really energetic. I love the stadium. I got goosebumps when I walked inside it. The stadium is real nice. I love it there. It is real nice. The academics are really good as well. They are strict about their academics."

Fowler's next stop is Gainesville to attend Friday Night Lights.
