New offer comes in for three-star TE Brock Haman from Scottsdale (Az.)…
Neal Looking to Add to Offer List
One player colleges will be focusing on this fall is Merrillville defensive tackle Matt Neal. The 6'4, 255-lb Neal currently holds one offer, from Toledo, and has a number of other schools waiting to see what he does on the field and in the classroom this fall. The Rockets however, saw all they needed to already. "I received one from Toledo and that's pretty much it so far," Neal reported. "Yeah, I went up there to their junior day and it's pretty cool. I was excited. Really excited. I felt a little pressure too, that's the first one and I had all these other teams looking at me. I talked to my brother and family, and they said just relax for now and keep looking at other schools, wait for other offers to come. It's really exciting though." When asked which other schools are recruiting him still, Neal said "There's a lot," adding, "I just got a letter from UCLA. Purdue, Illinois State and Cincinnati, Bowling Green, Wisconsin and Northern Illinois." Neal says he went to a team camp at Illinois State, but other than that, did not attend other college camps. He admits that the key for him is academics, and he worked hard on that this year and will continue to this year. "It was basically just my grades in school. They said keep bringing them up because I was doing really well my junior year. As far as everything else on film, they love the film and highlights and stuff too. It's basically just the grades." Neal's brother Mike is a starting defensive tackle at Purdue, and the Boilermakers are one of the schools he is most familiar with as a result. Whether he gets an offer or not, remains to be seen. "I don't know what Purdue's up to, but I talk to the coaches and I've been around campus plenty of times before. They haven't said any specifics about what I need to do on the field, but they love film. I just need to bring my GPA up."
