Catching up with CB Floyd Raven

Scout.com's #36 nationally rated cornerback has been battling a groin injury this summer but that has not slowed down his recruitment. To learn more about the latest with Floyd Raven, read below.

"I have been chilling and working out and trying to get my leg better," added Floyd Raven when asked what he has been doing lately. "I pulled my groin a little after the Ole Miss camp at a passing skills game against St. Augustine, and I re-aggravated it before the LSU camp. I tried to go at the LSU camp, but it was hurting pretty good so my mobility was not that good. It just has been hard for me to let it heal because I am trying to practice on it every day. I have not had any time to let it rest because I am trying to make our team better, but at the same time, I know I need to let it rest so it can heal."

Which camps did Floyd attend this summer?

"Ole Miss and LSU."

Which colleges are staying in the most contact right now?

"Really, I would say Texas A&M, Tulsa, Ole Miss, and Memphis."

What happened to Arizona? They were an early offer.

"Nothing really. Right now the colleges can not contact us so I have not spoken to them in a while. They came by our school in the spring but I was taking a test so I did not get a chance to talk to them. I am sure the communication will open back up when they can start calling us again (in September)."

Which colleges does Floyd call on his own dime?

"I talk to Ole Miss probably the most. I also talk to Texas A&M a lot. A lot of coaches tell me to call them but I am practicing and working out everyday so I just do not have the time. It is hard for me to keep up with everyone right now, but I have been talking to a lot of the players like Collins Moore, Jermaine Whitehead, and some guys I met at the camps."

What is Collins Moore saying?

"We just have normal conversations to see which schools we like. We talked about the Ole Miss and LSU camps. We are just seeing which schools we are going to visit next and what we liked about the schools we have visited."

Collins Moore and Floyd Raven both just happen to have Ole Miss and LSU high on their list. What makes both schools so attractive?

"Really, I like Coach Chris Vaughn (at Ole Miss) and his attitude. I just like the way he is and the kind of person he is. We are a lot alike. I have not really seen everything else at Ole Miss, like how their fans are and what all is on campus, but it is really nice up there. LSU just has a lot of Louisiana dudes on their team so I have a lot in common with those guys. I guess you can say the chemistry is there with LSU. I am not saying that it would not be at Ole Miss, but with me being from Louisiana, it's there at LSU."

What about Texas A&M?

"It is really a nice school too. I really liked it over there when I went on my visit. Their coaches are really cool and laid back. They have a lot of players from our school that play there. Patrick Lewis goes there now and he tells me how it is up there. I trust his word so that means a lot."

Floyd said earlier he would make a summer time decision. Is that still in the plans?

"I am still in the same spot. I want to feel it out. I was really excited after the Ole Miss camp, with them being an SEC school, but then I went to LSU's camp and I saw how much I liked it there. That kind of broaden my horizon and made me think that maybe I needed to look around some more before I committed."
