"I was planning on going over there for their senior camp but something else
popped up, and I could not make it," added DeMarcus Hodge
. "That was
the first time I got a chance to see their campus. It made a real good impression
on me. The one thing that surprised me the most is that they do not have two-a-days.
The campus was really pretty though. I got a chance to talk to the players and
get a better feel for it over there. I really just enjoyed the whole visit. It
was all great."
What did Hodge want to key in on during the trip?
"I just wanted to see how I was going to stack up against everyone else and
see the campus and see how much playing time I would get. But really, I just wanted
to see how comfortable I would be there if I were to go to school there. After
seeing them today, Ole Miss is definitely in the mix. They really made a big impression
The trip as a whole was better than DeMarcus anticipated.
"It was better than I thought it was going to be because of how nice their
campus is and their defensive coordinator really stood out to me. I like his defensive
schemes and me and their defensive line coach really hit it off. I am looking
for a staff I can connect with because those are the guys you are going to spend
the majority of your with for the next three to four years."
The playing time factor was a positive for the Monroe resident.
"I will be getting on the field my freshman year because their whole four
man rotation graduates this year. It really is a perfect situation for me to be
walking into. I can come in, compete, and show them what I can do."
Where does this leave Ole Miss?
"I can't really give you an answer right now. They have their high points
about them, but I do not know where I would rank them until I go home and do my
Hodge last reported that TCU and Arkansas were his leaders. Is that still the
"Yea, they are still my leaders, but I have to go home and evaluate things
and see how everything plays out. Ole Miss stood out for me pretty good today,
and they are definitely in the mix now, but Arkansas and TCU are definitely in
the mix as well."
Anybody else still in the picture?
"MSU. I love everything about it over there and especially their coaching
staff. When I went on my trip there; they were one of two schools that I immediately
felt comfortable. Arkansas was the other."
What are TCU's positives?
"I like how compact the campus is so it keeps everything within walking distance.
They have the #1 defensive in the country, and I can get a lot of early playing
time if I go to school there. I just like the whole environment around that program.
That is what stands out to me about TCU."
Does Hodge have a time-frame for a decision?
"I want to take some official visits before I decide, but I could have a
decision before the end of the season."
