I am on the road a lot and I am going to run a “From the Road” feature on many of the prospects I see throughout the south. It is going to be an observation piece with notes I may pick up on as I spend time at schools with different prospects.
Prospect: Tre Jackson
High School: Wayne County
Location: Jesup, Ga.
Class: 2011
Measurements: 6-4/300
Projected Position: Offensive Line/Defensive Line
Recruiting Notes: Georgia Tech is showing Jackson the most attention at this time and he is also hearing from Auburn, Georgia, Tennessee, and a few others. He has visited GT and the Yellow Jackets are currently his favorite.
From the Road
Tre Jackson is a good looking lineman. He does not have a lot of bad weight, he has nice length, and the report the coaches down there are that he has had a nice off-season.
Last June, during an AAU basketball game, Jackson tore his left ACL and missed the entire 2009 football season. He started his sophomore season on both sides of the ball and he got a good bit of playing time as a freshman in 2007 too. If he would have played last fall, he would likely have some offers at this time.
Schools want to see how he comes back from this injury. He is now 100 percent and he is ready to have a big senior year.
Like many, Jackson loves the defensive line, but his home on the next level will likely be offensive guard. He has the body, the feet, and the ability that really fit that position best. While at Wayne County, I talked with head coach Jody Grooms and he agreed about him being best down the road on the OL.
Jackson has the size and he should draw a good bit of attention this fall as coaches hit the road and his film gets out. Keep an eye on this sleeper in South Georgia.
