First One In Gets Brown
For the most part, Pearland (TX) Dawson athlete Max Brown has been loyal and unselfish. Meaning, that the position that he plays on the high school level is not what he is projected to play on the college level. With that said, there have been opportunities for him to venture elsewhere that may enhance his chances in recruiting because he would have the opportunity to play at the position that will help him get recruited. "Lots of programs have told me that they want to see me play defensive end before extending an offer to me. But because my team needs me to play offensive line I do it," Brown said. "I could have transferred to the schools up the street or in the area, but Dawson is my team. I have to take care of my first team first." For now, the 6-foot-2, 235-pound Brown has a single offer from Navy. He did mention that he made camp stops which included: TCU, SMU, Louisiana -Lafayette, Baylor and North Texas. And while he worked out as a defender for all of these programs, none resulted in an offer. "I only have the one offer from Navy so far. Honestly, I do not even have an idea about where the next offer will come from," Brown said. "North Texas seems like there is some interest there, but I'm not sure if an offer will come. I have been hearing from a couple of smaller schools though." Brown mentioned that he was surprised when the Navy offer came through in the spring and he anticipates more coming during this fall. "The Navy offer came in and I was not even looking at an academy. But I thought it was cool that the coaches came all the way down to check me out," Brown said. "I mean Navy is close to a Top 25 program so I figure that there may be a couple of other top programs that will recruit me. "Whatever program comes through first (with an offer), that is where I'll probably end up."
