Denzel Wimberly talked about the summer he's been having. "I went to Central Michigan camp. I went up there when they were having their 7 on 7 camp. I liked everything, I got a chance to meet all the coaches and after they gave me an offer I committed. Me and my family made a trip up there and committed June 26th." Wimberly, 5-foot-10 and 190 pounds, talked about why he decided to pull the commitment trigger. "My parents fell in love with the campus and I fell in love with the coaches, we have a great relationship. They have a great campus. I met up with some of the South Florida kids -- Lorenzo White Jr., and Jalil Addia, they told me what I would like and wouldn't like about Central. I got to meet some other commitments that influenced me." Despite the early commitment, Wimberly said he may still keep some options open. "I am not gonna say I am 100 percent solid. My top colleges are Western Illinois, Bethune Cookman, Nebraska, and UMass along with Central. Western Illinois -- "The fact that the coaches always called and kept in contact with me and built a relationship with me. I feel comfortable with them." Bethune Cookman -- "Both of my parents went there and graduated from there. I have a relationship with the coaches." Nebraska -- "I just like their program; they have an upcoming if not established program. I would like to be part of it if I wasn't committed. UMASS -- "I had a cousin who went there and he said they have a nice town and they have an up and coming program." Central Michigan -- "The fact that they are a winning program and the fact that there are some guys up there that I am comfortable with and I feel like I am not going to a place where I am not gonna be by myself. I have family up there and I am comfortable." Wimberly, who claims a 3.0 GPA and 27 ACT score, talked about his goals for this coming season. "Just my goal this year is have my team come up top. I haven't set any of my person goals, I will do that right before the season starts. Team goal is to become districts champions and if possible state champions."
