Catching Up With Couch

Catching Up With Couch

After an injury last year, Maurice Couch is ready to play football. He's not alone. College coaches from all over the country want Couch lining up in the trenches for their school after this season. Go inside to learn more about his recruitment.

"We had a good last week of camp," stated Garden City standout, Maurice Couch. "We're getting ready for game week. Our first test will be Northeast Oklahoma."

Couch is ready to get back on the field after an injury last season.

"I left Orlando (Edgewater HS) and came to Garden City. I had a stress fracture in my leg my first year. It was hard not to play."

Regardless of his injury, it didn't take long for college coaches to take notice of Couch's potential.

"I have offers from USM, UAB, Troy, E. Michigan, Arkansas State, Oklahoma State, Kansas, Kansas State, Ole Miss, Tennessee, South Carolina and USC. The main schools I am looking at are USC, Kansas, South Carolina, and Ole Miss. At each of those schools I have a good relationship with the coaches. I love the environments and I know I can play early."

What does the JUCO standout enjoy about each of those schools?

Southern Cal - "I love there coaches. I click with them. They give me a great chance to get to the "league". I have an official visit set up with them for November 27th."

Kansas - "The coaching staff at Kansas really keeps up with me. I've already been over there twice so I'm familiar with the school."

South Carolina - "I grew up watching Steve Spurrier because I'm from Florida. I've always wanted to play for him. I have an official visit set up with them for October 9th."

Ole Miss - "Coach Price and I have a good relationship. He keeps up with me and we don't just talk about football. I like that."

Couch will graduate in May and due to red shirting last year will have 3 to play 3 after choosing a school.
