Michigan High Schools to Kickoff Tonight

Michigan High Schools to Kickoff Tonight

The high school season starts in Michigan tonight. We preview some of tonight's big games, give you what to look for, and give some predictions.

Game of the Night
MACOMB DAKOTA vs MUSKEGON

Individual Matchup to Watch: Bernard Taylor vs Damon Knox. Taylor, an Indiana commit, is projected to play guard in college, but he lines up at tackle for the Dakota. Knox, possibly an inside guy in college plays end for the Big Reds. How convenient! The two should see each other often. There has been some "social networking trash talk" between the two. Taylor is very strong and powerful, but he'll have a hard time pushing around the 6'5, 260-lb Knox. Has Knox picked up his technique enough to wreak havoc on the Cougars? We'll find out tonight. This will be a fun matchup.

Other Recruiting Notes: Muskegon junior running back Juwan Lewis emerged on the camp circuit this summer, and could be the breakout player in West Michigan this season. He only rushed for 131 yards last season, but is a sturdy 5'9, 195-lber with legit 4.4 speed. A good game, and a good night, and he'll be on his way to some offers. The Big Reds' quarterback Kevonte Keyes is receiving some attention as a defensive back.

PREDICTION: Dakota is the #2 team in the state, and they return quite a few players, where the Big Reds only return five starters. It will be a tough, hard fought game, but I think the Cougars' experience will be too much.
MACOMB DAKOTA - 35 / MUSKEGON - 24
