Ashley Plans to Make a Scene
Posted Aug 27, 2010

McComb High School began a new era last week with an impressive win over defending 3A state champ Tylertown. The homestanding Tigers had a nice showing from quarterback Lamarvin Ashley. Ashley made a little buzz for himself after a solid showing at Auburn's MVP camp. He plans to build on that this fall.

"I had the chance to go to James Madison, Virginia Tech, Georgia and I visited Georgia Tech a little bit," said Ashley of his summer excursions. "Georgia, Alcorn (State) and Auburn are all recruiting me. I don't have any offers yet though."

When asked for a scouting report of himself, Lamarvin said, "I try to get the focus on me, so my teammates can get the play going and get the touchdown.

"When it's my time to shine, then that's when I shine."

The south Mississippi standout expects his hard work to pay off in the form of some college offers come season's end.

He has a good idea of what he wants in a college program.

"Academics are the main thing first of all," said Ashley. "I want to be around some good people who are friendly. I want to have some nice coaches too."
