Chevelle Buie was in action last night against a team from Mississippi and Scout was there for all…
Rutgers commit impressive
Chevelle Buie helped lead his team to a big opening win over Olive Branch (Miss) on Saturday. He talked about it. "We came out and had a good game. It wasn't one of our best games but our defense bailed us out again. They played very good. I gotta give credit to the other team. I gotta give credit to our offensive line. They did a good job. As the year goes on, I'm gonna keep giving them credit." Buie and his Cocoa teammates have won two straight state titles and they know how tough it'll be to win a third. "We have a big target on our backs. We can't have turnovers, can't get beaten deep, and just come and play Cocoa Tiger football." Buie, 5-foot-7 and 165 pounds, committed to Rutgers early in the process and remains strong with that decision. "When I went there for the camp, I wasn't able to do it all because I pulled my hamstring. They will put me in the slot, return kicks. I could see myself being there. I think it'll be a good place. As of now, that's where I'll be. I'm gonna take it day by day but I'm focused on my season now." Buie plans on visiting Rutgers and perhaps others but no one has really emerged yet. "No one really, just a lot of mail coming in from schools around the country. I keep in touch with the Rutgers coaches a lot." The standout running back prospect isn't sure when he'll be taking his official visit to RU. "I don't know yet. I'm supposed to be going next week but we leave for Pittsburgh that Friday so I won't be able to go. No one has been talking about visits, it's just been mail. I've just been focused on Rutgers and on my senior season."
