Las Vegas (Nev.) Bishop Gorman RB/DB Shaquille Powell (JR, 5-10, 185): The first thing that you notice about Powell is that he has added some muscle to his frame this off season.
As a junior he has the look that college coaches are looking for and will more than likely add another 5-10lbs before his senior season. Against Del Oro, Powell displayed very good vision, finding running lanes all night. He also showed some very good explosiveness in and out of wholes.
Powell's running style is more of a slasher. He has the ability to change directions very quickly, without losing speed. As a running back, he has all the intangibles that you expect, but what may surprise you is his ability to break tackles.
At 185-pounds, he is very good at picking up those yards after contact, which played a big part of his 241 yards rushing. Next years running back class will be loaded, but its safe to say that Powell will be one of the names at the top of the list.
