Carter Up to the Task
Pickerington Central began their season Saturday with a 41-0 victory over Plainfield (Ind.). Senior cornerback Tamani Carter was a big part of that, breaking up several passes and providing steady yardage as a punt returner and wide receiver. "It feels great," Carter said. "It definitely feels real great. We had a good season last year; I like to come back strong and show other schools what we're all about." The season does not get any easier as Oscar Smith High comes in from Virginia next week and features four-star receiver Quinta Funderburk, who Carter will likely be matched up against for most of the game. "I'm definitely looking forward to it. It will definitely be a big test for all the DBs. I'm sure we'll be fine." While he showed some talent as a slot receiver, Carter says schools are only recruiting him for corner. He currently holds offers from Stanford, Arizona, Minnesota, Kent State, Youngstown State and Iowa. "I'm still e-mailing coaches right now getting official visits set up," he reported. When asked which schools he is setting up visits with, he answered: "Minnesota, Arizona, Stanford and Iowa." With two Pac-10 schools on the list, location and distance from home is not currently a consideration for Carter. "Right now, it's not a factor, but it may change. You never know." As far as a time table, he has not set plan for a commitment. "Whenever the time's right I'm going to make my commitment."
