Chesapeake Bowl Invites Williams

Gateway High School always produces big talent and has great coaching with Terry Smith at the helm, so it makes sense that he will be bringing one of his best players along with him to the Chesapeake Bowl this year.

Linebacker Armstead Williams was just named to the Chesapeake Bowl roster on Sunday afternoon and Scout.com caught up with the 6-foot-3, 200-pound athlete about that and his recruiting thoughts.

"It feels great to be playing in the Chesapeake Bowl and I'm really proud to be a part of it," Williams said. "I'll get to play with the top guys going to the FBS levels and get a lot of reps against players that I'll be playing against at the next level."

"I've narrowed my recruiting down to Maryland, Iowa and Purdue in no particular order," Williams explained. "They're my top three right now as they've been showing me the most love. I hope to take an official visit to Iowa next week and then go from there with other schools."

The Chesapeake Bowl will be played on December 30th and will put the North against the South. The North team is represented by players picked from Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware and the South team is comprised of players from Maryland, Washington, D.C., West Virginia and Virginia. The location of the game has not been decided yet, but should be announced shortly and all participants will go home with their own personalized jersey and a custom bowl ring which can be seen below in a lower resolution. The game will be open to the public.
