Johnson First QB in Chesapeake Bowl

The North roster just added their first signal caller in Bishop McDevitt High School product Matt Johnson who is fresh off of a 23-0 victory over Gateway High School this past weekend and he understands that while the game will be fun, it will be a learning experience as well.

Matt Johnson, a 6-foot-1, 185-pound quarterback from Bishop McDevitt High School will join his teammate Jameel Poteat in the Chesapeake Bowl this December and will represent the Bowling Green Falcons.

“I think it’s an honor to be on an All-Star game for a regional game like this, so obviously I’m doing something right here,” Johnson stated. “It’s going to be like a preview of what college is going to be like. You wouldn’t be on this team if someone didn’t think you were talented obviously and the South is certainly going to have a ton of talent as well, so it’s going to be tough. You can throw a pass behind a receiver against a hometown team and get away with it, but in this game it’s a pick-six, so I’m excited for the challenge of this game.”

The Chesapeake Bowl will be played on December 30th and will put the North against the South. The North team is represented by players picked from Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware and the South team is comprised of players from Maryland, Washington, D.C., West Virginia and Virginia. The location of the game has not been decided yet, but should be announced shortly and all participants will go home with their own personalized jersey and a custom bowl ring which can be seen below in a lower resolution. The game will be open to the public.
