Fort Hill High School linebacker Garrett Dolly just finished his first game of the season against Surrattsville racking up 10 tackles and two tackles for loss, playing with a broken wrist. He was just selected to play linebacker for the South team of the Chesapeake Bowl and has earned every bit of his recognition.
Garrett Dolly
, a 6-foot, 215-pound linebacker from Fort Hill High School in Cumberland, Md., might not be big on the recruiting scene, but if you pluck him out of Western Maryland and put him at a school like Good Counsel, he’d be sitting on a solid amount of offers. He’s all-day tough, is a leader on and off the field and is the embodiment of what you want in a scholar-athlete. For those reasons, he will play in the Chesapeake Bowl for the South team.
“I feel really blessed and excited that I get the chance to play in a game like this with so many awesome athletes,” Dolly explained. “Just to be able to play on the same field as some of these guys coming out of a city like Cumberland is kind of humbling because we don’t get much attention where I live. At the same time, just because I’m not committed to some big-name school doesn’t mean I’m not going to go out there and knock some heads in. It is a great honor though.”
The Chesapeake Bowl will be played on December 30th and will put the North against the South. The North team is represented by players picked from Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware and the South team is comprised of players from Maryland, Washington, D.C., West Virginia and Virginia. The location of the game has not been decided yet, but should be announced shortly and all participants will go home with their own personalized jersey and a custom bowl ring which can be seen below in a lower resolution. The game will be open to the public.
