Chesapeake Bowl Honors Pitts

With the selection of Lafayette Pitts to the Chesapeake Bowl, Pittsburgh has not one, not two, but three defensive backs now playing for the North team this December.

Lafayette Pitts, a 5-foot-11, 180-pound cornerback from Woodland Hills High School in Pittsburgh, Pa., has accepted his Chesapeake Bowl invite and talked to Scout.com about it on Monday.

“I’m definitely excited to play in the game,” Pitts said. “It’s going to be real fun to play with all my future teammates. I’ve met Kyshoen Jarrett and Terrell Chestnut out at different events and now all three of us are going to get to play in the same defensive backfield at the same time in one game, so that will make it really exciting. In about two years everyone at Pittsburgh could be gone in the secondary, so we could be seeing the future right there.”

The Chesapeake Bowl will be played on December 30th and will put the North against the South. The North team is represented by players picked from Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware and the South team is comprised of players from Maryland, Washington, D.C., West Virginia and Virginia. The location of the game has not been decided yet, but should be announced shortly and all participants will go home with their own personalized jersey and a custom bowl ring which can be seen below in a lower resolution. The game will be open to the public.
