Ft. Wayne (Ind.) Northrop defensive end Josh Gaines will leave the Hoosier State in 2004 and play his college football at Penn State for Joe Paterno and the Nittany Lions.

“I’m committed to Penn State,” said defensive end, Josh Gaines.

“I just felt that Penn State was the place for me. The football players get their degree’s at Penn State and they have goals outside of football.

“Coach (Joe) Paterno and his staff have been honest and straight forward with me and I feel comfortable with everyone at Penn State.”

Gaines, a 6-foot-3, 253-pounder, from Ft. Wayne (Ind.) Northrop had 110 tackles and 13 sacks as a junior.

Gaines picked the Nittany Lions over Purdue and Michigan State.
