Alex Boone, the #1 prospect, in the Midwest, according to Scout.com, is verbally committed to Ohio State. Boone talks about his Buckeye official visit and which players from Cleveland (Glenville) impressed him the most during St. Ed’s last game of the 2004 season.

“My Ohio State visit went great,” Alex Boone said. “I went to Columbus last Friday for my official visit and I had a blast. It was beautiful. My commitment is solid.”

The 6-foot-8, 300-pounder from Lakewood (Ohio) St. Ed’s could have an immediate impact at Ohio State.

St. Ed’s season was ended by Cleveland (Glenville) in the 2nd round of play-off action.

“Jamario (O’Neal) is so smooth and so tough,” Boone said. “It doesn’t even look like he’s trying but he’s flying all over the field.

“Freddie Lennix really impressed me a lot as well. He’s a hitter and he’s quick. I’d look over and see Freddie before the ball was snapped and when the play started, he was gone. He’s (Lenix) just lighting quick.”

Boone graded out over 90% in 2004 and he had 50 knock-downs. Alex said that Oklahoma and Notre Dame finished 2nd and 3rd for his services.
