A prospect starting to emerge in Illinois is Jim Moore, an offensive tackle, from Oak Lawn (Richards). The 6-foot-4, 305-pounder, is the best offensive lineman to come out of Richards since Mike Jones (Iowa). Moore has several schools interested in his services and he said there are seven schools at the top of his early wish list.
“Right now I don’t have any scholarship offers,” Jim Moore said.
“I’m getting hand-written letters from about 20 schools. Notre Dame, Northwestern, Purdue, Central Michigan, Iowa, Wisconsin, Louisville, Rutgers, Ohio State, Illinois and I can’t remember the others right now.
“My favorites are Michigan State, Northwestern, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Purdue, Iowa, Illinois and Louisville. I don’t have a leader.
“I went to Iowa’s spring game on Saturday and I plan on hitting camps this summer at Notre Dame, Wisconsin and Michigan State.”
Moore has been on the varsity since his sophomore year and started at left tackle for the Bulldogs as a sophomore and as a junior.
We asked Moore what the college recruiters will see when watching him on film.
“My best attribute is my technique,” Moore explained. “I don’t make mistakes, I’m very good at getting out on the linebackers and I’m also good at one-on-one blocking. I don’t give up on my blocks.”
Moore is solid in the classroom. He carries a 3.0 GPA and just recently took his ACT.
EXTRA POINT - Richards is one of the best football programs in the state of Illinois. Richards coach Gary Korhonen is one of the best high school football coaches in the Midwest. If you take a prospect from Richards, you know exactly what you’re getting. Moore could get his first scholarship offer during the Spring Evaluation period.
