Vidal Hazelton is the #1 ranked wide receiver in the country by Scout.com. He will be headed to San Antonio as an Army All-American in January.
CHATHAM, Va. (November 3, 2005) --- Recognized as one of the top football
players in the nation, Vidal Hazelton of Chatham, Va., has been named a 2006
U.S. Army All-American. Hazelton will join a stand-out list of athletes playing
in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl on Saturday, January 7, 2006 at the Alamodome
in San Antonio, Texas.
The classic East vs. West match-up will be played and televised live on NBC
January 7th at 1:00 p.m. (EST) and will feature the top 78 prep football
student-athletes in the country.
Hazelton made the move to Hargrave Military Academy to play for Head Coach
Robert Prunty's Post Grad squad made up of some of the best players in the
country from the Class of 2005. Playing with older stars such as Callahan Bright, Darius Dewberry, and Justin Mincey has paid off for the receiver, and he
has not only held his own, he has excelled.
"He's got to be the best player in the country," said Prunty earlier
this year on his star receiver. Hazelton has caught 28 passes for 756 yards and 11
touchdowns as a senior, and he is the #1 ranked wide receiver in the country by
Scout.com.
"Vidal is incredibly polished as a wide receiver. He possesses outstanding
ball skills, but the most impressive aspect of his game may be his blocking
skills. He runs crisp and precise routes, separates well and is tough to bring
down once he catches the ball," according to Bob Lichtenfel of Scout.com.
Scout.com is an official selection partner of the U.S. Army All-American Bowl.
