There were many schools tracking Ben Pooler, but the Maryland Terrapins were the first school to offer the talented New Jersey athlete a scholarship offer. Pooler rewarded the coaching staff’s loyalty to him by issuing them a verbal commitment.

Scout.com two-star prospect Ben Pooler, a 6-foot-3, 235-pound athlete from Lawrenceville Prep in N.J. has the versatility to play linebacker or fullback on the next level.

Maryland noticed his talents early in the process when he attended a summer session of the team’s camp when he was a junior. The Terps verbally offered him after his strong camp performance and backed the verbal offer after he posted impressive numbers at the Elite Combine in New Jersey this spring. He ran a 4.56 40-yard dash and won linebacker MVP honors.

As a junior, Pooler reports he rushed for 716 yards and racked up 50 tackles and five sacks while netting All-State Prep honors for his performance.
