Da'Norris Searcy (LB/S, Decatur, GA) - A while
back scout.com's #9 nationally rated WLB Da'Norris Searcy committed to
the North Carolina Tar Heels, but when NC fired their head coach, he started looking
elsewhere but still remained verbally committed.
That has now changed.
"I
told coach (Butch) Davis in our meeting today that it is now neck and neck between
them and Ole Miss," added Da'Norris Searcy. "I am undecided now. I am
no longer committed to North Carolina, but they are right in there with Ole Miss."
What
changed Searcy's mind?
"I do not know. The coaching change started
it, and then after going on my Ole Miss visit and then this visit this weekend
with North Carolina, I saw that they are both the same. They both have a great
environment, and I could not say one stood out over the other. That is why they
are neck and neck. I like them equally right now."
There still is
a third school under consideration.
"I am going to visit Virginia Tech on January 26th, and that will be it. I am pretty much down to Ole Miss and
North Carolina, but I am going to give Virginia Tech a chance too."
Da'Norris
had some positive comments about his North Carolina official visit.
"It
went good. We ate a lot. They gave us a tour of their facilities and where our
classes would be. We toured the academic center too. I met with Coach Davis and
went to a basketball game. They played High Point. It was my 5th trip to North
Carolina so I was pretty familiar with everything, but I did get to see a lot
of the things I have not seen before. Overall, it was a good trip. I enjoyed it.
I have a tough decision to make. I will just pray about it and sit down with my
family. In the end, I will make the best decision for me."
