Alexander, ranked No. 20 in the East by Scout.com, favors Penn State solidly over Virginia Tech, West Virginia, Tennessee and Pittsburgh and all five have offered. He also has offers from schools such as Florida, Florida State, Miami, Georgia, Notre Dame, North Carolina and many more.

"I really like the coaches at Penn State," Alexander said. "I especially like wide receiver coach Mike McQueary because he's real down-to-earth and to the point. He's straightforward and I like that. They said they would use me as a slot receiver, like Derrick Williams.

"Penn State is also only about 35 minutes from my house and I'd rather not go too far away," he said. "It would be nice to stay close because I'm really close with my mom and my family."

The speedster (4.3 forty) says he doesn't have a timetable for his decision, but admits there a "65 percent chance I'll choose Penn State.

"I'll do it whenever it feels right," he said. "I'm still going to talk it all over with my mom. I'm really looking for more than a good football team. I want to be in a nice environment where I'll feel comfortable living for the next four to five years."

Although Alexander didn't attend any camps during the summer, he did visit Penn State, West Virginia and Pittsburgh. Both the Mountaineers and Panthers are within two hours from his house.

"I went to a game at West Virginia last season and had a lot of fun," Alexander said. "It was against Maryland and I went with my dad and he was cheering for Maryland because he went there. I really liked the atmosphere there."

Alexander's father, Alan Alexander, played wide receiver for the Terps, but A.J. says he isn't pushing him towards any school.

One school that Alexander says he might want to visit officially is Virginia Tech. "I don't really know too much about them yet because I haven't been there, but I like the coaches a lot and they are always a good program every year," Alexander said. "I'll probably only take a few visits during the season before I decide."

He reports a 3.0 core GPA and a 830 SAT.
