Jurrell Casey (DT, Long Beach, CA) - Scout.com's #36 nationally
rated defensive tackle in the country will take in his first official visit this
weekend to the University of Mississippi.
"I am going down there Friday
with my folks," added Jurrell Casey. "I am looking forward to seeing
how their team works together, how hard they play, and how their coaches are."
How
did Jurrell become interested in Ole Miss?
"I really do not know too
much about Ole Miss. I just started hearing about them last year. But Coach Neilsen
(from Ole Miss) came up here last year. He offered me, and we talked about a lot
of little things. Last Spring, he brought Coach Orgeron out here and we met. It
seems like they have some real cool coaches. They check on me on a day to day
basis. They probably check up on me more than anybody else. I am just ready to
get to meet the rest of their coaches. If they are as cool as Coaches Neilsen
and Orgeron, then I am going to have to really get serious with Ole Miss because
those are two really cool dudes."
Does Casey have anymore official
visits lined up?
"No, I was suppose to go to Oregon, but I could not
make it to their game in time, so I am going to reschedule it for a later date.
But that is the only other college I have talked to about visiting."
Any
offers?
"Southern Cal, Nebraska, Ole Miss, Arizona, and Oregon have
offered me."
Who does Jurrell want to visit besides Oregon and Ole
Miss?
"USC, Michigan, and LSU."
What stands out about
USC?
"They have a really good program. I have been to a couple of
their practices and a bunch of their games. They work hard. I like that. They
have some real cool coaches too. Them and Ole Miss probably show me the most love."
Although
Michigan has not offered, Casey is interested in their program.
"They
have a really good program. I know they have not done well this year, but it is
a good program. I also have a teammate of mine, Donovan Warren, who goes
to Michigan. He says it is real cool out there."
How interested is
Michigan in Jurrell?
"They have shown me a little interest, but not
as much as I want them too."
And LSU?
"They have a really
good program, and they are #1 in the country this year. I know a couple of people
who stay out there so it would be interesting to see what their program is all
about."
And LSU's interest in Casey?
"They are showing
me a little interest but not as much as the others."
Casey had 104
tackles and 10 sacks as a junior for Polytechnic. Through five games of action,
he has collected 48 tackles and 5 sacks. Polytechnic has a bye this Friday and
stand at 4-1.
