Doug Alston just picked up his first two written scholarship offers from Division I-AA programs and is still talking to a handful of I-A schools, however right now his focus is on the State Championship game he and his teammates will be playing this Friday at Giants Stadium against Moorestown-Beard High School.

Doug Alston may be undersized at 6-foot-1.5, 192 pounds, however one would think with his athleticism and production that he would merit more interest from higher level programs then he has so far this season. Currently, Alston has 76 tackles, 21.5 sacks, three forced fumbles, a fumble recovery and three bat downs on the year and just came off an 11 tackle, 6.5 sack performance against Glen Rock in the playoffs. The Paterson Catholic product did just pick up two offers however, and spoke about them with us.

“I was just offered by Wofford and Winston-Salem State,” Alston said. “I am also waiting to hear back from Monmouth and Hofstra as I think they both could be offering me very soon. Right now we are 9-0 and have the championship on Friday though, so I am focused on that.”

Temple did come by the school today and picked up my senior film and that is a program that I have definite interest in,” Alston explained. “I wouldn’t mind going to school in Philly and playing at the Eagle’s stadium. I also still hear from Boston College and Minnesota every few weeks.”

As a junior for Paterson Catholic, Alston registered 66 tackles, 12.5 sacks, forced and recovered a fumble and deflected three passes earning All-Area, All-League and All-County honors.
