Brandon Smith is a four star recruit packed in a huge 6-2, 210 pound frame. Michigan is extremely lucky to get this fifth nationally ranked safety and will no doubt use him to his full potential. Smith was invited to the US Army All American Bowl game and it is definitely merited by his tremendous play on the field. Smith had multiple offers on the table including schools such as Colorado, Iowa, Michigan, LSU, NC State, Rutgers and South Carolina.
During the US Army All American Bowl game Smith did the typical pick one of the hats routine. The Wolverine faithful gasped collectively as he reached his hand out, then let out a huge sigh of relief as he donned the maize and blue cap. The Wolverines will be extremely grateful of his choice for the next four seasons.
“A lot of people say that Brandon will end up playing linebacker in college, but those people have not seen him play. The kid has great hips great awareness in coverage. He breaks ion the ball well and is just tremendous in coverage. So while he may be able to play linebacker it is most likely that he will end up as a safety,” Scout.com East Regional Recruiting Manager Bob Lichtenfels informed.
