Derrick Chatman (DE, Coahoma County Community College, MS) - The 6' 2.5, 270 pound defensive end has been focused on West Virginia until the recent coaching change. A new leader has emerged and offers continue to pile in. Go inside for the latest on Chatman's recruitment.

How was your season?

"We could have done better," added Derrick Chatman. "I think we all played hard but we just made too many mistakes,"

What were your season stats?

"I'm not big on stats. I'm more of a team player. When I'm on the field, I'm just looking for the ball. I don't keep up with stats."

Who's recruiting you right now?

"I have offers from West Virginia, Oklahoma State, Southern Miss, Kansas State, and Mississippi State."

Tell me a little about each team?

West Virginia - "I'm in love with them, but I am not going to lie. When Coach Rich Rodriquez left, it hurt my heart. I was pretty much set to go there. Since he's gone, they are probably 3rd on my list."

Oklahoma State - "I'm going to visit OSU on 1/18. I think I will fit in good with their players. I love their coaches. They are going to play me at DT. I've been working on losing weight but they want me to gain it. I know it's far away but I could endure it."

Southern Miss - "Southern is only 4 hours from home. I have two friends that play there. I spoke with their new head coach. He's a really cool guy. I also stay in touch with Coach Hughes. They do a good job of staying in touch me and letting me know how much I am wanted. They say I am one of their top prospects on the board. That means a lot to me. I have a visit with them set up for 1/25."

Kansas State - "They mostly call my coaches. I'm looking forward to meeting them, and hopefully setting up a visit. They are really cool guys. I can't wait to learn more about them."

Mississippi State - "Coach Melvin Smith is recruiting me. They want me to play DE and DT. I like the thought of that. They say I'm quick enough and fast enough to play outside and I'm strong enough to play inside."

Do you feel more comfortable with any particular staff?

"I feel the closest to the Oklahoma State staff. I feel like I have known them forever. We talk about everything. We talk football, academics, and girls, just everything. They are real laid back and easy to talk to. They have done a great job recruiting me."

Does the talented lineman have a leader?

"Right now Oklahoma State leads. They are followed by Southern Miss, West Virginia, Mississippi State, and Kansas State."
