Ever heard the name Michael Larrow? Don’t worry you’re probably not alone. It's our guess that now that you’ve heard it this won’t be the last time.

Union (N.J.) defensive end Michael Larrow used the U.S. Army All-American Combine as the stage for his coming out party and for those of us who were paying attention, he did just that. Larrow did what no one else could do and that was defeat Blue-Chip offensive lineman Xavier Nixon in a one-on-one battle.

It has taken D-I schools a little longer to take notice, as Larrow is still waiting for his first offer, but it will happen. It’s more a matter of schools finding the right position for him to play. Larrow, at 6-foot-3 and 258 pounds, can play defensive end. He could grow into a defensive tackle, but he is fast enough and athletic enough to play linebacker in the right scheme.

“Most of the schools are looking at me as a defensive lineman,” Larrow said. “Virginia likes me at outside linebacker.”

Larrow has taken unofficial visits to a few of the schools that are showing interest in him.

“I went to a junior day at Wake Forest,” Larrow said. “It was a small school, but all the players and students seemed really happy to be there. The program just keeps getting better and their graduation rate is over 90-percent.

“I have been to about eight games at Rutgers,” Larrow said. “It’s real close to home. It is a program on the rise. They are starting to earn a lot of respect and lots of people from Union go there, so I’d be comfortable there.”

Another East coast school that has really caught Larrow’s attention is Penn State.

“Penn State is very big,” Larrow explained. “The fan support there is unreal. They have very good academics and it is only three hours from home. The atmosphere there is great.”

Larrow missed a junior day at Syracuse, but he plans on rescheduling so he can check out the Orange. This past season, Larrow registered 55 tackles, 10 sacks and a force fumble. He earned Second Team All-Conference honors.
