Craig Drummond is the No. 2 ranked defensive end in the country by Scout, and he's in no hurry to jump into the recruiting process.

Craig Drummond of Chicago, Ill. is the No. 2 ranked defensive end in the country by Scout, and he has been keeping busy this spring outside of football.

"I haven't been able to go to any junior days or anything," said Drummond. "I'm focusing on my SATs and track right now."

Pushing 6-6 and 260 pounds, it would be quite a sight to see Drummond focusing on track where he runs the 4x100, 4x200, 4x400, and the high hurdles for his Morgan Park team.

Drummond is more than just a big athlete with a lot of potential though. He's a spectacular athlete with a lot of production.

"I had 84 tackles last year, 18 sacks, two forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, and I scored a touchdown. One of my teammates blocked a punt, and I picked it up and ran for a touchdown."

Morgan Park went 11-2 last season, and Drummond should have a lot of help on the defensive line again next year.

"We have about eight starters coming back, and there are three of us coming back on the defensive line. They might try me on offense some next year, but I don't know yet."

Studying for the SATs, class work, and track have left Drummond little time to focus on football recruiting, but that hasn't stopped teams from around the country from focusing on him.

"I haven't really got into my recruiting much yet. I don't know where I'm going to visit this summer for camps. I've gotten offers from teams like Miami, Illinois, Penn State, Oregon, Alabama, USC... a lot of them so far. I'll be looking at the coaching staff of the teams, but I haven't really thought about playing close to home or not yet."

The U.S. Army All-American Bowl has been in touch with Drummond about possible being a part of their game in January, but Drummond hasn't been extended an official offer yet.

Drummond is taking his time with the recruiting process, but when the time comes, he'll be one of the hottest commodities on the recruiting market at defensive end.
