The Badger Sport/New Level Athletics Skills Pass Camp is set to take its show on the road again this weekend in Akron, Ohio. Scout.com as the exclusive media partner for the event will be on hand to provide our readers with all the action.

Badger Sport/New Level Athletics received rave reviews after their first camp of the year last weekend. Now the Las Vegas camp is in the books and the group now moves onto to Akron where they will host some of the premiere players from across the Midwest and up and down the East coast. Let’s take a look at some of the players expected to be making an appearance.

OFFENSIVE PREVIEW

Quarterbacks:

Jordan Roberts (Aurora) and Joe Budmayr (Marian Central Catholic) are considered by many to be the top two signal callers in the state. Both will have a chance to showcase their skills this weekend. Not to be outdone are perhaps the two most talented passers in the state of Indiana as Morgan Newton (Carmel) and Jordan Luallen (Center Grove) will try and duel it out to one up eachother. Brand new West Virginia commit Tahj Boyd (Hampton/VA/Phoebus) has a chip on his shoulder and he is out to prove that he deserves to be mentioned in the same breathe with the nation’s elite. Maryland will be led by (Loyola) playmaker Leon Kinnard. (Neenah/WI) quarterback Dan Burkett is smooth on film, now we get to see if that carries over in this type of setting. West Virginia athlete Craig Crawford will have a chance to show whether or not he is a quarterback or athlete. Pennsylvania will have a few interesting quarterbacks at the camp led by (Danville) standout Andrew Shoop who is as good as anyone when it comes to mechanics. (Strong Vincent) athlete D.J. Barney was on the fast track to stardom before being sidelined last year with an injury. He fits a shotgun style attack and at Strong Vincent its run first, run second and run third if you can. He could thrive in this environment. If you want an underclassman to keep an eye on, then watch (Plainfield/NJ) sophomore to be Tyrone Johnson. Word has it that Johnson has a chance to become a very special player.

Running Backs:

(Jeannette/PA) has seen the end of the Terrelle Pryor era, now it’s the beginning of the Jordan Hall show. The 5-foot-8 Hall holds offers from Ohio State, Michigan, Notre Dame, Penn State and Pittsburgh. Michigan State commit Larry Caper (Battle Creek) is out to show that the hype is for real. Iowa is represented by (Bishop Heelan) speed demon Brandon Wegher who should excel in this format. (Warren/KY/East) standout Shenard Holton continues to hide under the radar, but it is only a matter of time before he blows up and this could be what starts it. (Northmont/Ohio) back Kevin Ringer is looking to put his name on the map this weekend. One player that we can’t wait to see in person is (Baltimore/Ohio/Dunbar) gem Tavon Austin. He has great film and gets a ton of hype and we anxiously await the chance to see him live.

Wide Receivers:

All we can say is WOW! Talk about an exciting group of players. Pennsylvania will feature a few decent ones Corey Brown (Gateway), Je’Ron Stokes (Northeast), Bret Gunn (Kiski) and Dontae Brown (Penn Hills). Don’t look past Virginia, which just so happens to feature the nation’s top target (Great Bridge) Logan Heastie, along with Logan Thomas (Brookville) and Brandon Scott (Forest Park). Minnesota standout Bryce McNeal is the lone player attending the camp from his home state. Another player that we really liked on film and can’t wait to see live is (Lone Oak/KY) standout Jamarielle Brown. Some say he is a product of the system, we shall see. (Coventry/Ohio) athlete Jeff Walker could be the sleeper of this group. New Jersey has a very formidable trio of targets led by (Penns Grove) star Aaron Hayward, Jeremy Crayton (Piscataway) and (Camden) two-way star Charles Watkins. Maryland will be led by Michael Campanaro (River Hill) and Alec Lemon (Anne Arundel). Indiana will be tough to stop with Duwyce Wilson (Columbus East) and Demory Lawshe (Lawrence North).

Tight Ends:

There are a few tight ends who can definitely stretch the field led by Brock DeCicco (Jefferson Hills/PA/Thomas Jefferson) and Tyler Eifert (Fort Wayne/IN/Bishop Dwenger). Reid Fragel is another tight end worth keeping an eye on from (Grosse Pointe/MI/South). Another very solid tight end from Pennsylvania is Steve Marck (Pennsbury). Cody Condon (East Troy/WI) is out to prove himself this weekend.

DEFENSIVE PREVIEW

Linebackers:

There are some decent players at linebacker (note the sarcasm) this group is lead by five-star Dorian Bell (Gateway) and Michigan State commit Chris Norman (Detroit/MI/Renaissance). Those two are not alone as there is plenty of talent at the position. Pennsylvania also features A.J. Fenton (Erie McDowell) and Nick Sizemore (Manheim Township). The Indiana defense will be led by TyQuan Hammock (Bishop Luers) and Jordan Barnes (Homestead). Christian Reed (Notre Dame) is a tweener who normally plays defensive end, but he will play linebacker for the New Jersey squad. Norman is not the only good linebacker as Shamari Benton (Brother Rice) and Alex Andrus (Coopersville) will be out to prove. Two Ohio sleepers to watch are Zakee Bashir (Walnut Ridge) and Hussain Trowery (Reynoldsburg). Mike Privott (Lake Taylor) and sleeper Zach Midulla (Tucker) will lead the Virginia defense.

Defensive Backs:

You need some stellar defensive backs when you’re facing talent like these wide receivers. The Pennsylvania roster looks like every good defensive back in the state will be at the camp including Deonte Flemings (Strong Vincent), Abdul Smith (Perkiomen School) and a pair of very talented underclassmen from (Pittsburgh Central Catholic) Jeff Knox and D.J. Meyers. Maryland has a talented duo in Anthony Young-Wiseman (Walt Whitman) and Courtney Bridget (Calvert Hall). New Jersey features sleeper Kadeem Gaither (JFK). Delaware’s Duron Harmon (Caeser Rodney) will compete against anyone. William Marable (Bayside) and Laroy Reynolds will hold down the fort for Virginia.

The event will take place at the University of Akron. There will be no testing only some positional specific drills then 7 on 7. The players will be split up into teams on Sunday and compete in pool play and then a single elimination tournament. The event is closed to all media except Scout.com, unless you receive prior approval from the staff of New Level Athletics. There may still be a few open spots, if you’re interested in participating email Baron Flenory at bflenory@newlevelathletics.com or KaShann Simmons at ksimmons@newlevelathletics.com for more information.
