Darrick Scott did it all for Thomas Johnson High School last season, playing some wide receiver, running back, quarterback, safety and cornerback. The highly productive athlete will probably fit in best in the defensive secondary at corner at the collegiate level, however his production as a wide receiver will have to open some eyes as well.
Not only did Darrick Scott average 30.5 yards per catch for Thomas Johnson High School last season, but the 5-foot-10, 180-pound athlete also intercepted 11 balls as well. Currently he holds one offer from Army, however with the kind of production he brings to the table many schools are sure to follow suit in the future.
“Right now I have one offer from Army,” Scott explained. “I talked to the coaches at Syracuse when I was up there and they said they would be offering soon too. BYU is another school that has told me the same thing.”
“When I went to Syracuse a month ago everything went great,” Scott said. “The campus was really nice and I really enjoyed the atmosphere and environment there. The coaches made me laugh a lot and I was comfortable with them as it was like a family. I just got a great feel from them all around.”
“I’m going to be going to West Virginia on Wednesday, Maryland on Saturday and Wake Forest for their spring game as well. I’ll also be going back to Syracuse on April 11th.”
As a junior, Scott caught 32 passes for 975 yards and seven touchdowns. He also had 230 yards rushing and two score. On defense, he had 57 solo tackles, three forced fumbles and 11 interceptions, three of which he returned for touchdowns. He was named first-team All-Area and All-County and was a second-team All-State selection.
He reports a 3.75 core GPA and scored a 1520 on his three-part SAT.
