Coach Austin was going through video of the top prospects in his recruiting territory in the State of Tennessee and came up with a keeper in his eyes.

"Coach Austin called me the day after he watched DeMarcus Knight's video," added Hamblen East High School coach Dwayne Hatcher. "He told me right then and there that they wanted him to be a Rebel. That was a couple of days before their Spring scrimmage, so DeMarcus went down there on Saturday and fell in love with the place."

Knight was impressed with the Ole Miss staff and facilities.

"He just really clicked with Coaches Austin and Nutt," added Coach Hatcher. "He was also impressed with how they ran their scrimmage. He likes their schemes and feels like he will fit in nicely in that defense. I know he really liked Coach (Tyrone) Nix a lot when he met him too. DeMarcus went on and on about their practice facilities. Ole Miss just had the total package of what he was looking for."

Why is Ole Miss so high on the 6' 2", 230 pound linebacker?

"The kid can flat out run. You do not see too many 230 pound young men flying around like he can. And he is as mean as a rattle snack. DeMarcus is just a fierce competitor. I know this, Ole Miss is lucky to get in on him this early because he was starting to receive a lot of interest from Tennessee and some other big time programs. But like I told DeMarcus, once you make a commitment, you have to stick by your word. I do not think you are going to have to worry about him with that kind of stuff."

Stay tuned at Scout.com as we will be providing you video and comments from Knight on his new commitment in the near future.
