One of the more imposing defensive figures inside of the state of Mississippi has been busy showcasing his talents in front of the scouts this Spring.
"Yea, I think Rod Woodson has made quite
an impression on some folks this Spring," chuckled the Olive Branch head
coach, Scott Samsel. "Alabama has offered him this Spring, Southern Mississippi,
Tennessee, Arkansas, Memphis, Louisville, and FSU have all offered him this spring.
"FSU I still do not count it as official because we do not have it in writing
yet, but I am going to take his coach at his word."
Woodson was
already holding several scholarships before Spring ball started.
"Ole
Miss was the first school to offer the kid. They offered him last year, and I
believe either Michigan or Mississippi State was his next offer, and Auburn offered
him right before Spring practice started. Miami was in here yesterday but they
have not offered him yet. It was good to hear from Coach Pannunzio at Miami. He
came down and informed us that QB Cannon Smith
finished the Spring running 3rd on the depth chart. They did not know Cannon was
as good as he is. He kind of caught them all by surprise."
Tackling
has been no problem for Rod Woodson as he had a team high 140 tackles as a junior
and also tallied 128 tackles as a sophomore. Rod was named to the 1st Team All-State
(class 5A) squad for his own the field accomplishments.
