Scout.com > Football Recruiting 2008 Barton Oregon Line Session Story URL: http://recruiting.scout.com/2/755101.html Chris Fetters SuperPrep.com May 15, 2008 SALEM, Ore. - In the middle session of the Second Annual Barton Football Marketing Workout at Willamette University, the top linemen from both Washington and Oregon worked out at McCulloch Stadium under mixed skies and lower numbers than last year. In 2007, there was some serious star power in the ranks: LeRoi Edwards – Kentridge (Air Force), Nick Cody – Hockinson (Oregon), Senio Kelemete – Burien Evergreen (Washington), Matt Lipski – Ashland (Montana), Jon Opperud – Milwaukie (Montana), Alameda Ta'amu - Rainier Beach (Washington) and Trevor Guyton – Redmond (California) were all on hand to work out. This year had some intriguing prospects, but no more so than OL/DL Charles Siddoway from Marist High School in Eugene. The 6-foot-7, 310-pounder has offers from Boise State, Oregon, Oregon State and UCLA, and could play on either side of the ball. He doesn't have great straight-ahead speed and needs to continue to develop his feet, but you can't teach size and heart, and Siddoway has both in spades. As long as his body continues to mature and coordinate, and is consistent and relentless in his workout regimen, the sky is the limit for Siddoway. Another offensive lineman that caught my eye during a March workout in Portland is Blake Verhaalen. At 6-foot-4 and 275-pounds, Verhaalen's body still is going through that body fat-muscle exchange, but he comes from the same school (Oregon City) that produced current Washington Husky guard Scott Shugert, and many believe Verhaalen has the potential to be an even better prospect than Shugert. Verhaalen has great feet and hips and just moves very well for a man his size. Zach Barge is a 6-foot-6, 323-pound offensive lineman from South Medford High School in Medford, Ore., and while Zach hasn't been playing a ton of organized football he's got the size and athleticism that might be of serious interest to Big Sky schools at the very least. Since the Montana Grizzlies signed Ashland native Lipski, they should be taking a very long look at Barge. On the defensive side, the pickings were pretty slim. But a younger rush end stood out, and he'll definitely be one to watch for the class of 2010. David Douglas DE Owamagbe Odighizuwa made his presence known as a pass rush specialist with his speed during hoop and quick-hit drills. And at 6-foot-3 and 220 pounds, he also runs a leg on David Douglas' 4x100 relay team.
