Torrance (Calif.) West offensive lineman Mark Clampitt was a player we were impressed with at the UnderArmour/Scout.com Combine in Los Angeles.

The 6-2, 250-pound lineman earned all-combine honors and then began a tour of a few West Coast schools camps.

“I was at the Washington camp and Coach White and Coach Denbrock are interested in me,” said Clampitt. “I felt I performed well. I liked their camp and the college.”

Clampitt also camped at three SoCal schools, including the two hometown colleges.

“This past month, I attended the UCLA One Day Camp and the USC Lineman One Day Camp,” said Clampitt, who also attended the San Diego State camp.

Clampitt is still waiting for his first offer, but the feedback has been positive.

“Most of them think I will be an interior lineman (guard or center) because they like my speed, athletic ability, and physical intensity,” said Clampitt. “They said that they would be able to put more weight on me as they are looking three years down the road, my high school senior year, redshirt freshman year, and freshman year.”

For Clampitt, a handful of schools are sticking out to him.

“The schools showing the most interest in me are Arizona State, Washington, San Jose State, Cal Poly, Oregon State, and San Diego State,” said Clampitt.

Clampitt’s skill position teammates are entrenched in passing league, but he and his fellow linemen are staying busy.

“We went to a lineman competition with my high school and 15 other schools. My high school took first place and I was voted MVP of the competition,” said Clampitt.

Clampitt was named to the all-area team by the Daily Breeze at the end of his junior year. He earned First Team All-Bay League honors and was named Team Offensive MVP.
