Jake Pele is a 6-foot-1.5, 240-pound linebacking prospect from Auburn-Riverside High School in Auburn, Wash. Pele updated Scout.com on his summer camping circuit, as well as his favorite schools and a position change for him this fall.
"My camp circuit is done (7 total)," Pele said. "I have attended the (New Level) 7-on-7 in Las Vegas, Barton Marketing Workout, Competitive Edge Combine, Nike Camp in Eugene, Idaho Vandals football camp, UW football camp, my team camp at University of Puget Sound and Portland State Football Camp. I felt all went pretty good and since those camps, recruiting attention has skyrocketed.
So what is Pele up to right now? "As of now I'm just training for my senior year, trying to have a big senior year," he said. "That is what a lot of the colleges are looking for before anything serious (offers) begins from a few coaches from
colleges that have told me that. I currently host no offers, but I am very confident with my
play this year one (or few) will come my way. I'm very open minded as I keep in close contact with a variety of D-2, D-1AA schools. I just want to keep as many options open as possible. Hopefully sometime next month.
Pele updated us as to how he's going to mix in some recruiting during his senior season at Auburn-Riverside. "I will be taking an unnofficial visit to Western Washington (D-2)," he said. "Like I said, just keeping options open. University of Washington has been stepping up the recruiting, sending me mail frequently (they are my childhood favorite). I got the chance to meet the staff there and they're all really cool. The facilities I've always said since I was young were always top notch. If they offer, it will take a lot of time and thinking about it.
"Also I will be taking frequent visits to them (UW) this August. I Iook to stop by Portland State this September to see a game and visit the staff. I love the location, it is right in the
heart of Portland. Hopefully I can make a game out in Idaho as well, as well as Idaho State."
Pele also let us know that about some added responsibilities this fall. "This year will be a little bit of a switch for me (position wise)," he said. "I will be playing RB/H-back instead of TE, a move best for the team made by my coaches. The switch was not that difficult of a transition since I played H-Back my freshman year.
"So I'm just ready to get on the field. September 4 is Game Day and I'm ready to go. (It's) my last year of high school, I don't want it to go to waste."
