Charlie Weis spoke with Heaps Monday and the signal caller from Issaquah (Wash.) Skyline was offered a scholarship to play football at Notre Dame. "He (Weis) told me that they weren't recruiting any 2009 kids, that they were strictly going after me," Heaps told Scout.com. "It's pretty exciting." Heaps, who is Mormon, has a current top-7 of (in alphabetical order) Arizona State, BYU, California, Notre Dame, Oregon State, South Carolina and Washington. "I really like the friendly relationship I have with Notre Dame so far," Heaps said. "To be getting a scholarship from them is unbelievable." Heaps and his family tried to get out to South Bend, Ind. this summer, but were unable to get all the logistics ironed out. "It's not a big deal," he said.
