One of Mississippi's top cover corners gained a lot of confidence this
summer.
"We went over to the Hoover 7 on 7 tournament this summer
and won it," added a proud KeShun Cowan. "We played against a lot of
good players, and I went up against some of the country's top receivers, and we
came out on top. That just gives us the edge heading into the season."
Cowan
attended one college camp this summer.
"We went to the Alabama camp, and then we headed
over to the Hoover tournament. I was going to go to the Ole Miss camp, but we
went straight to the Hoover tournament the same day."
KeShun was hoping
for a scholarship offer from his showing at the Ole Miss camp but it looks like
those plans will be delayed.
"They are still sending me stuff everyday,
but I do not know what is going to happen now with the scholarship stuff. I guess
I will just have to show everyone in the fall that I am deserving."
Who
else stays in contact with the 2007 All-Region 1(5A) selection?
"MSU,
USM, and LSU. MTSU is actually sending more stuff than anyone, but I really have
not spoken to anyone on the phone all summer. I have not been calling anyone,
just concentrating on my team."
Tonight, Olive Branch will face Shannon
in a jamboree that will be held on Ole Miss' field.
"That is going
to be exciting. I can't wait to play in that stadium again. We played there in
a jamboree the year before last, and it was a blast."
After the jamboree,
Olive Branch is playing nationally ranked Pahokee (FL) in front of a national
audience.
"That game is might be the biggest game we have played in
since I have been in high school. We just can not to play. We know they are suppose
to be all that, but we feel like we have a lot of game too."
Cowan
believes his personal game has improved during the offseason.
"I have
gotten a little faster and a little bigger than last year. I am up to 176, and
last year I was playing at 160. I have put on 16 pounds of good weight since last
year."
