Game three of the Skyline Crosstown Showdown brought Greater Catholic League member LaSalle against Winton Woods of the Fort Ancient Valley Conference. Considered an underdog, Winton Woods used it's star power to earn an opening week victory. Who were the top performers in this game.
Final Score
LaSalle: 20
Winton Woods: 26
Top Performers
Winton Woods
Dominique Brown – QB
Class of 2010
The junior quarterback went 2-5 for 34 yards but used his feet for another 82 yards on 21 carries with a touchdown. A great physical specimen (--foot-2, 197-pounds), Brown is a player to keep an eye on the next several months.
Chris Williams – Safety
Class of 2009
Commitment: Cincinnati
Williams showed why the hometown Bearcats feel they have a major player in their future. All night long Willimas found ways to be involved on both sides of the football. But his major contribution came on defense with 5 total tackles with 2 for loss.
Maalik Bomar – Linebacker – Running Back
Class of 2009
Commitment: Cincinnati
Bomar found himself in the middle of lots of plays but also came off the field a few times banged up. But when he's on the field he's a player to be reckoned with. His future is on the defensive side of the ball but he can also pick up some yards on the ground. On this night he rushed for 32 yards on 6 carries. Teaming with Williams in the future he'll give the Bearcats a big-time one-two punch.
Tristin Marvin – Linebacker
Class of 2009
Interest From: Cincinnati, Toledo
The surprise of the game was Marvin who used his speed and physical abilities to open the eyes of many. Making one of the biggest plays of the game to prove he's a player no longer under the radar as he picked off a pass and raced 67 yards to pay dirt. Marvin may have been the best player on the field for both teams.
Jeremiah Goins – Running Back
Class of 2010
Goins placed the first points on the board as he raced for a 23 yard score in the first quarter. For the game the 5-foot-9, 210-pound Goins would rush for 70 yards on 12 carries.
Antonio Poellnitz – Running Back
Class of 2010
Poellnitz showed his skills on special teams as he returned a kickoff for 87 yards and a score in the third quarter putting his team up 26-14.
LaSalle
Ricky Steele – Quarterback, Cornerback
Class of 2009
Commitment: Bowling Green
Steele is playing quarterback this fall but his future is on the defensive side of the ball in college. For the night he passed for 210 yards on 11-34 passes a touchdown and 2 interceptions.
Tim Edmond – Running Back
Class of 2009
Commitment: Ohio University
Ohio is getting a steal in Edmond as he showed power in his running style. Only getting 9 carries, Edmond pushed for 110 yards and a score on a 80 yard run in the third quarter. Edmond also showed his ability to catch the ball out of the backfield with one catch for 24 yards.
Adam Licht – Linebacker
Class of 2009
Licht showed LaSalle fans they have someone on defense to replace the graduated J.K. Schaffer (Cincinnati) as he picked up 11 tackles on the night with a sack.
Keenen Gibbs – Defensive Line
Class of 2010
Keep an eye on Gibbs as he's sure to see his name on the tongues of college coaches in the future. At 6-foot-1, 249-pounds, Gibbs has a great first step and does a nice job using leverage to his advantage. Able to take on double-teams, Gibbs plays with a motor and is not afraid to mix it up.
