Malik Cross watched his older brother play for Michigan as a child and is now looking to follow his footsteps and make it to the collegiate level as well. The Oxon Hill, Md., junior is just starting to pick up some steam in recruiting now and gave Scout.com the scoop on what he’s done as a player.
Malik Cross could play a number of positions in college, but at this point it looks as though wide receiver would be his best projection. The 5-foot-11, 186-pound athlete plays wide receiver, quarterback, running back and cornerback for Oxon Hill High School. He also is the teams’ punt returner, kick returner and punter. A few schools are already inquiring about him.
“I get the most mail and interest from Wake Forest, Oregon and Maryland at this point,” Cross said. “There is plenty of other mail obviously, but those seem to be the most serious right now. I actually camped at Maryland, but I got injured, so I had to sit out for most of the camp which I wasn’t happy about. I was excited to get down there and compete with the best there are.”
As a sophomore, Cross rushed for 1653 yards and nine touchdowns. He also had 853 yards and three touchdowns as a receiver and made 43 tackles on defense.
