Braxton Miller had his team on the fast track to the playoffs heading into last Friday's contest against Clayton Northmont. That changed late in the game.
Huber Heights (Ohio) Wayne sophomore quarterback Braxton Miller has been lost for at least four weeks and maybe up to six said Wayne head coach Jay Minton this weekend.
Miller, who already has received an offer from the University of Cincinnati and is considered one of Ohio's and the Midwest's top prospects for the class of 2011 had guided Wayne to a perfect 5-0 record heading into last Friday's contest at Clayton Northmont. But in the third quarter Miller went down with a lower leg injury and will miss the rest of the regular season.
"It was a normal run like many Braxton has made this season," said Minton by phone. "There was nothing dirty about the play just something that can happen in this game. I'm sure Braxton is down because of the success we've had so far this season. We'll work on getting a quarterback ready for Friday and continue working on making the playoffs when Braxton may be ready to return."
With Miller out the Warriors will look to two possible replacements for Friday's game hoping to get him back if they make the playoffs.
"Braxton has such a bright future with unlimited potential. We've got to make sure he's back 100% before we allow him on the field."
Miller's talent will be missed the next four weeks as the Warriors still have some heavy competition left to play with Fairmont (5-1), Beavercreek (5-1), Centerville (4-2) and Springfield (3-3) all left.
Sitting in the fourth spot in Region Four – Division One has the Warriors sitting with a good chance to make the playoffs if they can overcome this setback, but any lapse the next four weeks could see the Warriors outside of the eight teams that will advance in the region.
